Whee – that was quite a home work assignment Sczech. I think it was a good coverage of the issues but probably optimistic in a couple of aspects. Although the report highlights the increased use of oil in OPEC countries it fails to follow through on how this is going to decrease oil supplies. There was no discussion on the EROEI for the various schemes we now use to obtain liquid fuels and the fact that these fuels are of a lesser energy value (BTU’s per gallon). We are seeing a greater awareness of peak oil in many articles and reports such as this one. This report as well as most coverage at present try to shove the new found liquid fuels under the Hubbert bell curve which was never the intent. Crude oil peak is now history.
