How is it that Denmark providing 20% of its power from wind is a "failure"? Yes it is true that Denmark is on a grid that includes Norway, Sweden and Northern Germany and that the main source of electricity on this grid is hydroelectric. At least that's what I gleaned from tech types while visiting Denmark last year. Still, what percent of US power is from wind? Attaining 20% in the US would be a significant achievement, probably impossible. 4 independent countries COOPERATING on a significant energy issue is itself a phenomenon. In the US its "screw your brother" and make money as fast as possible ala Enron.
So, for the purposes of this discussion, a more interesting question who is behind the trashing of Pickens and his plan and what are their interests. Because a sane approach, as in the Denmark model, to energy issues in the US definately takes second place to making $. Big oil is obviously suspect but, right now, I tend to think it is the nuclear power lobby who would have the most to lose if they can't make their case for electical generation.
In any case, I have yet to see a reasoned discussion of the PP and I am sure interested parties are starting to do to him what they are about to do to Obama.
So let me be the first to inform you: Pickens actually practices Islam.
