Pickens is not a stupid man...

But E. Thomas McClanahan, the Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist who wrote that article criticizing Pickens may well be. McClanahan also complained about McCain when McCain went against the conservative Kansas Flat Earth First mantra, and mentioned that oil was 'finite'.

McClananhan promptly wrote an article telling his readers nothing could be further from the truth, and McCain was simply ignorant about how our economic system works. According to McClanahan
Natural resource accounting can seem confusing at first. That's because it's entirely possible to keep using stuff without running out, while ending up with more than when you started.

Of course McClanahan is disparaging of wind. Even though Kansas has a lot of wind potential, McClanahan's partisans in the Republican leadership of the legislature last year arranged to scuttle any proposals that would have included wind energy in their package of legislation promoting a new coal fired plant much salivated over by their corporate sponsors and flat earth minions.

Since the Republican legislative leaders who sponsored the anti-wind legislation have no opposition again this election, there promises to be a replay of that ugly anti-wind politics next year. McClanahan is just helping them by keeping their philosophical tea kettle perking on the stove with his article against Pickens.

McClanahan's column: McCain's worrisome talk about oil
