Neither one of those people is me.

Unlike the first person, I am not in debt at all; rather I have a single credit card for emergency use only. I don't see a 500K home with whatever as something I deserve; rather I see the 100K house I built as something I earned (and I make only about 25K a year). I don't see my jobs as secure; from where I'm standing anybody who thinks they have a secure job anymore is at least partly delusional. And so on.

My point: The author was being overly polarized in his characterizations. Simplistic assessments like this now lead to wrong conclusions/predictions.
